Marie M. Ellsworth, 86

Northborough - Marie M. (Brady) Ellsworth, 86, a Gold Star Mother, died peacefully at home Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness. Her husband, Edward Ellsworth, died in 1973.

She leaves her five loving and devoted children, Maureen Sargent and her husband, Charles; Edward Timothy Ellsworth; Sheila Cummings and her husband, Russell; Michael Ellsworth and his wife, Sheila; and Kathleen Ellsworth Crain. She also leaves her beloved daughter-in-law, Mary Ellsworth Tocci; her cherished grandchildren, Neil Tocci, Matthew Sargent, Richard, Benjamin and Kelley Cummings, Devon, Meghan, Mary Katherine and Annemarie Ellsworth, Tara Ellsworth Hamond, Erin and Colleen Ellsworth, and Jaclyn and Amy Crain; and her great-grandchildren, Edward Ermlick and Zachary Sargent. She was predeceased by her son, PFC Neil Ellsworth, who was killed in combat in 1967 while serving as a paratrooper during the Vietnam War.

Born and raised in Worcester, she was the daughter of P. Robert and Helen (Ward) Brady and her stepmother, Ann (Donnelly) Brady, who raised and cared for her following her mother's death. She attended and graduated from Classical High School in Worcester and attended Framingham State College, earning a B.S. in education. She had been a resident of Northborough for the past 62 years.

Mrs. Ellsworth worked as an order processor for the former New England Grocers (Sweetlife) in Northborough. Prior to that, she taught in the Fitchburg and Southborough school systems.

She was a member of the Gold Star Mothers Society and Saint Rose of Lima's Altar Society, and taught Religious Education Classes for many years at Saint Rose of Lima Church. In addition, she was a member of the Monday Night Bowling League at Sawyer's Bowladrome for 40 years. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

At this time, the family would like to express their gratitude to the VNA Care Hospice for their support and care.

A funeral mass was held Nov. 29 from Saint Rose of Lima Church, with burial at Howard Street Cemetery. Hays Funeral Home of Northborough directed arrangements.
