Youth orchestras to perform, hold auditions

Region – The Framinghambased Metrowest Youth Symphony Orchestra will present a concert Sunday Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. MetYSO is the orchestra in residence at MassBay Community College, Framingham Campus, at 19 Flagg St., where the concert will take place.

The orchestra will perform Mozart's "Overture to the Marriage of Figaro" and Tchaikovsky's "Marche Slave," among others. There will also be performances by the Preparatory String Orchestra PSO and by select chamber music ensembles. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Metrowest Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Preparatory String Orchestra are made up of more than 50 young musicians from many local towns.

Spring semester auditions for both orchestras will be held Sunday Jan. 6, 2008. For more information or to schedule an audition, visit www.metyso.org.
