Colonials take Roy Conference championship


Region – This puck, off the stick of Algonquin Regional's Ben Johnson (not shown), accounted for the Tomahawks' lone score in a 4-1 loss to Shrewsbury Feb. 20 at Westborough's North Star Youth Forum. Algonquin's Derek Shaw, who sent the puck out to Johnson, watches it float past Shrewsbury goalie Andrew Valliant. The Colonials' Mark Murray, trailing the play, looks on.

Scoring for Shrewsbury in the game were Pat Brossi, Dave Comeau, Derek Ryan and Clark Dumart. Castan Sommer and Ryan each recorded two assists in the game for the 11-4-5 Colonials, who wrapped up the Roy Conference crown with a 7-0-3 mark. Algonquin finished 7-11-2 overall, 3-6-1 in conference play.
