Applefest will still be a blast!

Northborough – Insufficient corporate donations have forced the coordinators of Applefest to snuff out this year's fireworks display. The festival, which will be held Friday Sept. 19 through Sunday Sept. 21, came up $10,000 short of the $20,000 price tag for fireworks, despite appeals to businesses and the public.

Although the fireworks display has fizzled, the other Applefest events are scheduled to go on as planned. The town's Recreation Department still seeks donations to help cover the costs of the festival.
