Isabelle G. Swartz, 93

Marlborough – Isabelle G. Swartz, 93, died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Beaumont Nursing Home in Northborough after an illness.

She leaves her nephews, Brian Swartz and his wife, Ruth Beck, and Craig Corder and his wife, Kathy, and her nieces, Linda Keithan, Joyce Robin, Diane Aeschelman and her husband, Gary, and Debbie Gaynor and her husband, Steve.

Born in Marlborough, the daughter of John and Eleanora (Jaworek) Swartz, she was a lifelong resident of the city and a 1932 graduate of Marlborough High School.

Ms. Swartz was a bookkeeper for over 12 years at the former Marlvo Oil Co. of Marlborough until her retirement in 1980. Previously, she was a bookkeeper for over 16 years at the former United Stores.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, a member and former treasurer for 12 years for Marlborough Senior Citizens, a member and past president of Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. of Marlborough, and former treasurer of the Tenants Organization for 12 years.

Ms. Swartz was awarded two citations for Donor of the Year for helping hospitalized veterans. In addition, she received a citation from the Marlborough Council on Aging and was awarded Top Senior of the Year for 2006. She also wrote poems, one of which, called "Seasons," received the Editor's Choice Award. Another poem, "Lazy Day of Summer," won the International Library of Poetry Award.

Funeral services were held June 21 from the John P. Rowe Funeral Home of Marlborough, with burial at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Marlborough Council on Aging, 250 Main St., Marlborough, MA 01752.
