Cultural Council members sought

Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen is asking anyone who is interested in serving on the Shrewsbury Cultural Council (SCC) to submit a cover letter and resume for their consideration.

The SCC is funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, which helps to promote excellence, access, education and diversity in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences to improve the quality of life for residents throughout the state.

SCC members are responsible for considering grant applications.

Last year, the SCC received grant applications from 30 groups and individuals for projects in the arts and humanities, including ancient and modern languages, literature, history, philosophy, religion and music. From these, the council selected 16 applicants to receive $6,760 in grants.

Members of the SCC are appointed by the Board of Selectmen for three-year terms, and can serve a maximum of two terms. Applications can be dropped off or mailed to Town Hall, located at 100 Maple Ave.
