Alice Rowan Swanson, 22

Northborough – Alice Rowan Swanson, 22, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 of injuries resulting from a bicycle accident in Washington, D.C.

She is survived by her parents, Ruth Rowan and Brian Swanson; her sister, Melinda Rowan Swanson; her grandmother, Myrtle Davidson Swanson; and four aunts, four uncles and seven cousins.

She graduated from Amherst College in 2007 and was employed by IREX, International Research and Exchanges Board in Washington, D.C.

A memorial service was held July 19 from the First Parish Church, Unitarian Universalist in Northborough. A fund has been established to support Human Rights throughout the world, a cause to which Alice was deeply committed. Memorial contributions may be made to The Trustees of Northborough Unitarian Church, P.O. Box 143, Northborough, MA 01532 for the Alice Rowan Swanson Fund.
