Gregoire to face Vigeant in November

Marlborough – Danielle Gregoire, the Democratic candidate for the 4th Middlesex District state representative seat, secured 1,667 votes at last week's primary election, securing her victory against Democratic opponent Matthew Giancola, who received 683 votes. Gregoire said that the win has energized her campaign to go forward into November.

Gregoire, who has worked as the legislative aide of former State Rep. Stephen P. Leduc, D, for the past five years, will compete against City Council President and Republican candidate Arthur Vigeant in the November election.

"We realize that it is going to be an uphill battle, but with the support received at Tuesday election coupled with the support we have received across districts and party lines, we are sure that we can win," she said.

Of the 160 representatives in the State House, only 19 of them are Republicans, according to Gregoire.

"A Democratic victory is crucial for the future of the district," she said.
