Local Cultural Council receives state grant

Shrewsbury – State Sen. Edward M. Augustus Jr., DWorcester, and State Rep. Karyn E. Polito, R-Shrewsbury, have announced that the town of Shrewsbury's Cultural Council has received a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) worth $7,800.

"With so much history and culture in Massachusetts, these grants will benefit local projects that help enrich the quality of life in our communities," Augustus said. "I am pleased to see the Shrewsbury Cultural Council received this funding to continue programs promoting social activities as well as cultural education and awareness."

"The Shrewsbury Cultural Council has been an integral part of promoting and supporting local artists," Polito said. "This funding will help ensure that we continue to reap the benefits that these creative works bestow on our community."

The Shrewsbury Cultural Council received this grant under the Local Cultural Council (LCC) Program, which is the most extensive cultural funding system of its kind in the nation. This grassroots network provides funding to every Massachusetts municipality through 329 local cultural councils and 2,500 volunteer members.
