Powering down the field

Westborough – Westborough High School (WHS) captain Rob O'Connor (right) runs past Shrewsbury High School (SHS) defender Mike D'Amico during the football game between the teams Oct. 24 at SHS. The Colonials won the game, 23-17, holding off the Rangers after building a 16-3 lead and then sealing the win with a key defensive stop with 2:45 to play that resulted in a fumble recovery by SHS's James Weed. O'Connor scored one of WHS's two touchdowns, on a twoyard run, while Sam Nichols scored the other on a three-yard scamper. Kicker Andy Basque accounted for the Rangers' other three points with a 35-yard field goal.

The Rangers dropped to 1-6 with the loss while SHS improved to 5-2 with the victory.
