Cecelia C. Chiras, 89

Marlborough – Cecelia C. (Byra) Chiras, 89, died Tuesday Dec. 16, 2008 at St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham. She was the wife of the late Anthony Chiras, who died in 2001.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Cassidy, Kathleen Krilovich and her husband, Paul, and Mary Pacific and her husband, David; her brother, Joseph Byra and his wife, Mary; her sister, Michaelina Grasso; her sister-in-law, Albina Byra; her grandchildren, Michael Cassidy, Kellie Crantz, Anthony David Jr., Matthew and Timothy Pacific, and Jason and Jacob Krilovich; and her great-grandchildren, Madison and Kyleigh Cassidy, and Patrick and Annaleigh Crantz. She was also the sister of the late Michael Byra, Wanda Stupik and Helen Grandi.

Born in Haverhill, the daughter of Antoni and Aniela (Klecha) Byra, she was a 1936 graduate of Marlborough High School.

Mrs. Chiras had been employed for many years as a bookbinder and proofreader for Lyons Press in Marlborough, previously working for the former McCook's Pharmacy. She was a member of the former St. Mary's Parish and Our Lady of the Assumption Guild, the Marian Cenacle, the Rosary Sodality and St. Jude's Guild. She was also a member of the DAV Auxiliary.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 19 from the Holy Family Chapel at St. Patrick's Manor, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Marlborough. The Slattery Funeral Home of Marlborough directed arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick's Manor, 863 Central St., Framingham, MA 01701.
