Marlborough Democrats to caucus

Marlborough – Registered Marlborough Democrats in Wards 1 through 7 will be holding their 2009 caucus at the Francis J. Kane Elementary School, on Farm Road, Saturday Jan. 31 at 10 a.m. to elect 22 delegates and 21 alternate delegates to the 2009 Massachusetts Democratic Convention. This year's convention will be held Saturday June 6 in Springfield.

Delegates will be equally divided between men and women. Anyone registered as a Massachusetts Democrat as of Dec. 30, 2008, is welcome to attend the caucus and run for a delegate position.

Candidates for delegate and alternate must be present at the caucus and consent to the nomination in writing, although this year's rules allow the caucus attendees to elect someone who is not present if a delegate/alternate position is not filled.

For more information, contact the Democratic State Committee at 617-776-2676 or Marlborough Democratic City Chair Thomas Hill at 508-485-8528.
