William James Byrne, 57

Marlborough – William James Byrne, 57, formerly of Hudson, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Emerson Hospital in Concord after a brief illness.

He leaves his children, Hayley Byrne and Matthew Byrne; his mother, Marie (Geoghegan) Byrne; and his siblings, Michael Byrne, Patricia Byrne-Varcasia and Jeannie Byrne.

Born in Elizabeth, N.J., the son of Marie and the late Robert Byrne, he had lived in Marlborough for the past several years. He was a 1969 graduate of Wayland High School and a 1973 graduate of Framingham State College, earning a BS in Geology.

Mr. Byrne retired in 2001 after serving 20 years as vice president of Methods Tool Inc. of Sudbury.

He was a member of the Hudson Rod and Gun Club and of the Shrewsbury Sportsman Club. He enjoyed all types of fishing, especially ice fishing, and was an avid boar and deer hunter. He also liked skeet shooting.

Funeral services were held Feb. 20 from the John P. Rowe Funeral Home of Marlborough. Memorial donations may be made to the Buddy Dog Humane Society, 151 Boston Post Rd., Sudbury, MA 01776.
