Shrewsbury – St. John's High School catcher Matt D'Auteuil (left) prepares to tag out teammate Matt Higgins during a Pioneers' baseball practice April 18 at the team's home field in Shrewsbury. St. John's entered play this week with a 3-3 record, having defeated St. Joseph's of Pittsfield, St. Peter- Marian of Worcester and St. Bernard's of Fitchburg. The Pioneers' losses are to New Bedford High School, St. John's Prep of Danvers and Worcester's Doherty High School.

The team is led by quad-captains Will O'Connor, Andrew Kelleher, Trevor Larson and D'Auteuil. Coach Charlie Eppinger also expects big things from pitcher John Massad and centerfielder Chris Creen, as well as Grant Zawadzki and Nathan Lapointe.
