Green Marlborough hosts Earth Day Fair

Marlborough – Green Marlborough is hosting the Marlborough Earth Day Fair Saturday May 2 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The rain date is Sunday May 3 noon to 3 p.m. With about 40 exhibits and activities, the second annual Marlborough Earth Day Fair will off er:

Experts and displays about home energy-efficiency, solar energy, hybrid cars, recycling, local food, and gardening;

Family fun, including face painting, s'mores baked in a solar oven and a walk in the park;

Live music, featuring the Weekend Band, Wes and Joe, and Freena and Rosen;

Art made from found objects;

Green giveaways, like a home energy audit, home water saving kit, junk-mail-reduction kit and recycling bins;

Free WeCare tours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 860 Boston Post Road, so that residents can see where their trash goes; and

Recycling at Ghiloni Park 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., accepting working and non-working laptops, computers, monitors, CPU boxes, all computer parts & accessories, keyboards, TV, speakers, video games and systems, cameras/video/audio equipment, fax-copy machines, printers, wires, plugs, drives, cards, servers, lawn mowers, leaf blowers and motorized lawn equipment, along with clothing, shoes, linens, toys and textiles. Drop-off charges of $5 to $20 will be applied. Free recycling for eyeglasses and cell phones.

All funds from recycling, which is organized by the Marlborough Public Schools Foundation, go to Marlborough Schools.

The Earth Day Fair educates and inspires residents about sustainability: recycling, energy efficiency, renewable energy, water conservation, green purchasing, transportation choices and more.

This event is coincides with the Clean Sweep, which will take place at the Memorial Beach parking lot on Hosmer Street from 9 a.m. to noon May 2. Clean up your neighborhood in the morning and enjoy the Earth Day Fair in the afternoon.
