And the band played on

Marlborough – In recent Finance Committee discussions about the fiscal year 2010 budget, members decided to cut two Department of Public Works salaries to go along with the proposed cuts of 24 teaching and aide positions from the School Department budget. Despite these deep cuts, it was decided that $38,000 be left in the celebrations budget for the city's annual Labor Day Parade – $18,000 for the parade itself and $28,000 for overtime for police, fire and public works employees to cover the event.
