Education Foundation hosts first spelling bee

Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Education Foundation (SEF) will sponsor an adult spelling bee Saturday Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in the High School auditorium. Emcee of the event will be Shrewsbury resident Peter Blute, host of the Peter Blute Show on WCRN AM830. During the bee, teams of four will collaborate to spell words on a whiteboard; words will be selected from the 2009 Scripps National Spelling Bee “Spell It!”

The donation for a fourperson team is $250, which is tax-deductible. Team entry deadline is Friday Nov. 6.

The public is welcome. Admission to cheer on a team is free.

All proceeds will fund school enrichment grants distributed by SEF.
