Corridor Nine Food Drive to benefit local food pantries

Region – The Corridor Nine Area Camber of Commerce and Hype9 is teaming up with the Doubletree Hotel in Westborough to run a food drive that will benefit local food pantries in the Corridor nine core towns of Westborough, Northborough, Shrewsbury, Southborough and Grafton.

The food drive will be held Saturday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Stop & Shop in the Westborough Shopping Center.

In addition to all the food collected during the drive going to area food banks, the Doubletree Hotel has pledged to donate five cents to an international humanitarian organization.

The goal of the drive is to collect 5,000 food items.

Among the items needed by area food pantries are: canned beef stew; canned chili; canned hash; clam chowder; peanut butter; jelly; evaporated milk; 24-ounce bottles of catsup; 30-ounce bottles of mayonnaise; granola bars; eight-ounce bottles of salad dressing; boxes of jello; toilet paper; paper towels; bars of soap; shampoo; and deodorant.

Everyone who donates will receive a warm chocolate chip cookie.
