Reader enjoyed charity editorial

I just want to congratulate the author of the article “Being on the Receiving End of Charity” and thank you for running it.

It was a wonderfully stated message and more appropriate than any of us care to or have the courage to admit. It perfectly explains an all too common reality that is touching more and more of our friends, families, acquaintances and communities and evokes a pragmatic compassion without maudlin sentimentality.

It inspires a sense that every little gesture is useful, meaningful and appreciated – making contributions of any type less like charity and more like sharing.

And as my parents always taught me – when you share with someone who has less or nothing, then when you have less or nothing, someone will share back. That way everyone can always have at least a little something.

When everyone shares, no one goes without. Thank you again, happy holidays and “God bless us, everyone.”
