George W. Conlon, 80

He leaves his wife of 53 years, Eileen B. (Skeffington) Conlon; his children, Cathryn A. Conlon, Anne M. O’Neill, Michael P. Conlon and wife Mary-Jo, Victoria S. Ellison, wife of the late Tad A. Ellison who died in 1994, and John L. Conlon; eight grandchildren, Timothy, Shannon, Brian, Ashleigh, Robert, Chase, Hannah and Taylor; and three greatgrandchildren, James, Leland and Charles. He was also brother of the late Mary Nadeau.

Born in Biddeford, Maine, the son of the late George and Mary (Crowley) Conlon, he moved from Marlborough back to Maine in 1991 and then back again about a year ago. He was a graduate of Old Orchard Beach High School in Maine and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Conlon was a baker for the Wonder Bread Co. of Natick for more than 28 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Saco Maine Elks and various veterans’ organizations in Maine, as well as a longtime member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary Church in Biddeford, Maine.

He loved to read, was a military history buff and an avid Red Sox fan, and enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening.

Funeral services were held Dec.12 from the John P. Rowe Funeral Home of Marlborough, with burial held at a later date in St. Mary Cemetery in Biddeford, Maine. Memorial donations may be made to either the St. Jude’s Children Hospital, St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38108 or to Veterans Shelter, 65 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
