Business Name: Shattuck Pharmacy Inc.

Address: 17 West Main Street, Northborough Owner: Paul Shattuck, R Ph Business Description: “We are an independently owned and operated pharmacy,” Shattuck said. “We are a community-based pharmacy focusing on healthcare in the greater Northborough area.”

Business History: “Shattuck Pharmacy has been family-owned for three generations, spanning over 100 years,” Paul said. “In the last 30 years, I’ve seen our client ‘community’ expand as a result of the growth of Northborough and surrounding towns.”

Why did you choose this business? “I value the ability to run my business as I see fit. We are highly regulated at both the federal and state levels, but within that there is some flexibility to set the policies and tone as to how we’d like to treat people. We like to know our customers and address their individual needs. We have the freedom to do that. I’ve worked in other independent pharmacies in New Hampshire and central Massachusetts. I learned from those experiences. But I want to run my own practice with my name on the door.”

The key to success is: “We are concerned about all our customers’ healthcare needs. Many individuals coming through our door are in need; it’s important to me that they feel more comfortable when they leave. This is not about just giving someone a bottle of pills; we want to work with our customers to help them feel better. We’ve had relationships with some of our community families for generations and we’ve earned their trust. It’s also rewarding to see new people come through the door.”
