Region – The Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce held a Special Networking and Oscar Awards breakfast at the group’s annual meeting May 13 at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club in Boylston. The program focused on recognizing members for their extraordinary contributions and support to Corridor Nine and celebrated their achievements in business and service to the organization. The event also introduced the 2010 to 2011 Corridor Nine Board of Directors, Presidents’ Council, and Committee Chairmen to the 190 attendees.

Sponsors of the event included Corridor Nine members: Avidia Bank; Briarwood Continuing Care Retirement Community; Boston Sports Club; Fletcher, Tilton & Whipple, P.C; Great Clips; Landscaping Etc, Inc., MetroWest Business Advisors, LLC; Penta Communications; TD Bank; and YMCA of Central Massachusetts.

Donna Cox of Dynamx Financial Solutions was inducted as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors for 2010 to 2011. Cox has been an active member of the Chamber of Commerce for many years and has served as the chair of the School Business Partnership Committee for over 14 years.

Under her term in office, Cox stated that her goal will be to encourage all members to patronize the businesses of other Corridor Nine members.

“When money is spent in locally owned establishments,” she said, “be they retail or service or any other category, 68 percent of those monies remain in the local communities in the form of salaries, taxes and other expenditures.

So let’s make the economic recovery start right here! I can think of no better recruitment incentive or retention vehicle than knowing that people do business with you because you’re a Corridor Nine member!”

Members receiving 2010 Corridor Nine Awards were Donna Cox, Dynamx Financial Solutions; Peter Tziahanas, Doubletree Hotel; Ed Lopes, Grafton Suburban Credit Union; Joseph MacDonough, Avidia Bank; Jimmie Ames, Avidia Bank; Mary Simone, Marlborough Courtyard by Marriott; David Bagdon, Community Advocate; Tracy Sasseville, Marlborough Savings Bank; Mark Donahue, Fletcher, Tilton & Whipple, P.C.; Steve Anderson, Unibank; and Deborah Penta, Penta Communications.
