Panthers softball is underway

Marlborough – Senior Panthers Softball opened up their 2010 season this week with the Junior Panthers traveling to Tewksbury and the Senior. Panthers playing Worcester Fallon “B” at home. Unfortunately, both Panther teams didn’t start the season on a high note, dropping all 4 games.

The Sr. Panthers opened the season with the Worcester Falcons “B” losing both ends of the doubleheader. Sr. Panthers lost the first game 15 to 5 and the second, 12 to 4.

Leading the Marlboro off ense were Chet Setterlund 5 for 7 and Steve Goldstein 4 for 6. Manager Scerra said they had a few new players, including 2 women this year, and it will take a couple of games to come together. He expects a good season.

The Jr. Panthers traveled to their arch rivals in Tewksbury to play an always tough Tewksbury team and dropped a doubleheader, losing the first game 7 to 6 and the 2nd 15 to 8. The Jr. Panthers also had some new players. The Jr. Panther’s off ense was led by Dennis Naylor who went 4 for 6 and Stephen Bober 3 for 7. Jim Boice the new pitcher for the Panther’s also had a double.
