Marlborough’s Boy, Girl Scouts kick off ‘Scouting for Food’ campaign

Marlborough – The Marlboro Boy and Girl Scouts are starting their annual Scouting For Food Campaign in Marlborough. Scouts have been participating in the cause for over 20 years. This year the Cub Scouts, Brownies, Girl and Boy Scouts of Marlboro will fan out through the city Saturday, Nov. 6 to distribute the familiar tan plastic bags. The collection bags are again sponsored by Price Chopper Supermarkets.

The scouts will return the following Saturday, Nov. 13, to collect all donations. They ask that bags be out on porches by 9 a.m. that day. All food donations will directly benefit the Marlborough Food Pantry. Suggested items include: canned vegetables, dry goods (cereals, rice, pasta), canned sauces, juice, coff ee, tea and cocoa. Infant items and toiletries are also greatly needed.

The goal of the scouts is to collect eight tons of food. They ask everyone to please assist the local scouts in achieving this very worthy goal. If you do not get a donation bag, please feel free to use any bag or call Unit Commissioner Jim Watson at 508-662-1617 and a bag will be brought to you.
