Home invader arrested in Shrewsbury
Shrewsbury – A resident of Hill Street called the Shrewsbury Police to report there was an unknown male in her residence Oct. 19. She gave police a physical description of the home invader and also a plate number and vehicle description. According to the police department, the vehicle was alleged to be MA reg. 939GE7, a white1998 Honda Civic registered to a Ryan M. Burgess, age 30, of 2332 Red Bud Way in Marlborough. The Shrewsbury Police responded to the scene. It was discovered that her house had been broken into and some jewelry had been stolen. Detective Brian Thibodeau and Detective Michael McGinnis investigated the crime. The same suspect had broken into a house in Hopkinton Oct. 18 and an arrest warrant had been issued for him by the Hopkinton Police. The Marlborough Police arrested Burgess Oct. 19 on the Hopkinton breaking and entering (B&E) warrant. Shrewsbury Detectives determined that Burgess had also allegedly committed the B&E earlier in Shrewsbury on Hill Street; he was charged with B&E in the daytime and larceny from a building. Property stolen from the Hill Street home was recovered by Shrewsbury detectives. Burgess will be facing charges at Westborough District Court at a later date. According to the police department, the victim in this case did an excellent job attaining the information needed to lead to the arrest. The Shrewsbury Police are investigating his involvement in other recent town break-ins. They are asking residents to remain vigilant about reporting any suspicious activity they observe to the Shrewsbury Police Department.
