Colin P. Mackey, 51Northborough – Colin P. Mackey, 51, of West Boylston, died Monday Feb. 14, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after a short illness.

He leaves behind his daughter, Shannon L. Mackey of Rutland; his former wife, Carol-Ann (Patterson) Mackey of Rutland; a brother, Richard J. Mackey Jr. of Wendell; three aunts and two uncles, Barbara and Roman Nowak of S. Deerfield, Jane and Francis Campion of Wellesley, and Betty Mackey of Lebanon, Conn.; his stepmother, Jacqueline Mackey; four stepbrothers; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his dog, Buddy, along with many friends, especially his best friend, John Stapler.

Born in Natick, the son of the late Richard J. and Virginia C. (Aberle) Mackey, he was raised in Northborough and graduated from Algonquin Regional High School in 1977.

Mr. Mackey worked at Digital Equipment Corporation/Compaq & Hewlett-Packard for the past 34 years, most recently as a Global Telecom Engineer. He was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the town of Northborough, and was a Special Officer for the Northborough Police Department. He was a member of the Northborough Explorer Post # 25 and was a founding member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club

He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, bowling and, most of all, spending time with his daughter, Shannon.

Calling hours will be held Saturday Feb. 19, from 12 to 2 p.m., in Church of The Nativity, 45 Howard St., Northborough. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the church. Burial is private. Please omit flowers. Instead, memorial donations may be made to the Northborough Fire Association (Explorer Post #25), Pierce Street, Northborough, MA 01532.
