Hudson – Maria (Luz) Freitas, 89, died Saturday June 25, 2011, surrounded by her loving family, at Bolton Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marlborough. She was the wife of 30 years to the late Jose Freitas, who died in 1993, and mother of the late Jose Bairos, Anibal Freitas and Manuel Luz Bairos.
Born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores, Portugal, daughter of the late Jose and Maria (Sousa) Luz, she moved to Hudson in 1975 and was employed by the former Arrow Automotive of Hudson for many years until her retirement. She was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
She is survived by her daughter in-law, Maria Bairos, wife of the late Manuel Luz Bairos of Hudson; her four granddaughters, Natercia Hanson, Lisa Percuoco, Monica Freitas and Nicole Freitas, all of Hudson; her four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her four step-children and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday June 28, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery of Hudson.
