Borglund receives Girl Scout Gold Award

Westborough – Amanda Borglund, a member of Westborough Girl Scout Troop 30633, received the Girl Scout Gold Award during a June 12 council ceremony.

The Gold Award is the highest recognition in Girl Scouting. An award with national standards, it acknowledges an individual's accomplishments, leadership, commitment, creativity and personal effort in trying to make the world a better place. Twenty-nine girls in the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts received the Gold Award. Only five percent of all high school Girl Scouts finish the requirements and project.

Borglund is a graduate of Westborough High School and will attend Lesley College in the fall. Her future plans include working with Campus Girl Scouts while at college. Borglund is active in her church youth group and ASP. She has been a Girl Scout for 12 years.
