‘Day for Nellie’ fund-raiser to be held in Hudson

Hudson/Marlborough – The greater Marlborough area lost a friend, Nelson Lambert, to cancer last May. Lambert was a lifelong resident of Marlborough and a mentor to many of the city’s youth. His battle with cancer lasted a mere five months, but for those whose lives’ Lambert touched, their memories of him will last a lifetime.

Friends of Nelson Lambert will host a fund-raiser Sunday Sept. 18, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Hudson Elks Pavilion, 99 Park St., Hudson, to support the loving family he left behind . The event will feature music by The Usual Suspects, Cubby “The Hit Man”, Les Racquet and Flash Back. There will be food, a basket raffle featuring more than 30 baskets valued up to $150, and a silent auction featuring donated items such as vacations, a lap-top computer, sports memorabilia, Red Sox and Patriots tickets, a Hot Air Balloon ride donated by bostonhotairballoonrides.com, and much more. Visit the website www.adayfornellie.com for a complete list of items.

Billy Parks, a committee member, is one of the organizers.

“We want to help the family, and ease the financial burdens for Nelson’s wife, Sandy, and their children, Rachelle and Zachary,” Parks said. “The pain of losing a friend such as Nelson is really hard. An event like this helps with the healing process by bringing people together to remember the good times. Please join us in honoring our friend, Nelson, and in supporting his family.”
