Mary Frances Holmes, 89

Shrewsbury – Mary Frances (Lyons) Holmes, 89, formerly of Ohio, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011 in UMass Memorial Medical Center after an illness.

She is survived by her husband, Gardner Holmes of Shrewsbury; her daughter, Barbara McConnell Erdelack of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; and her two grandsons, Wesley Erdelack of Cambridge and Drew Erdelack of Chicago.

Born and educated in Boston, she lived in many places across the world with her first husband, Air Force Capt. Robert McConnell. She later settled in Chagrin Falls, where she resided for 30 years. In the last decade of her life, she returned to the Boston area. She lived for five years in Southgate before her passing.

Mrs. Holmes was a vibrant woman who loved travel and fashion. She remained active throughout her life, working in retail for Talbot’s and other clothing stores in the Chagrin Falls area. Her smile and laughter lit up any room as she entered. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Private funeral and burial plans will be carried out in accordance with her wishes.
