Bank robbery at People’s United Bank in Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury -  Oct. 31, at approximately 1:50 p.m.,  the Shrewsbury Police responded to a bank robbery at People’s United Bank, 555 Main St. Upon arrival, Shrewsbury police discovered the suspect had fled the scene. The suspect is described as a white female 5’5” to 5’7” tall, approximately 30 years old, heavy set, brown/reddish hair, and wearing glasses. She was wearing jeans and ¾-length white jacket.

The robber had given a note to one of the tellers demanding cash. The suspect then fled the bank with an undetermined amount of cash. The Shrewsbury Police searched the area for several hours, but the robber eluded them. No injuries were reported as a result of the robbery. The People’s United Bank advises no customer accounts were affected.
