Oliva Henry Dubois, 85Worcester – Oliva Henry Dubois, 85, died peacefully Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011 at the Knollwood Nursing Center of Worcester after being cared for with love and compassion.

He leaves his beloved wife of 41 years, Gladys (Smith) Dubois; four daughters, Rosemary McCarthy and her husband Robert “Mac” McCarthy of Worcester, Christine Judson and her husband Gerald of Barefoot Bay, Fla., Sheila Davis and her husband John of North Grafton, and Sharon Fonceault of Hopedale; and two sons, John Dubois of Marlborough and David Dubois and his wife Lori of Nashua, N.H. He leaves 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; six step-children, Thomas Harvey of Texas, Kathleen and Emile LeBlanc of Worcester, Edith Anne Harvey of Templeton, Karen Renna of California, Mary Ellen and Steve Cyganiewicz of Templeton, and Debra Valois and her husband Paul of Florida; seven step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He leaves a brother, Raymond Dubois of Spencer, and a sister, Rita DiReda of Shrewsbury. His brother Robert Dubois predeceased him in 1987.

He was born in Worcester, son of Remi and Delisa (Mercure) Dubois, and was a resident of Worcester his entire life. He was a veteran of World War II and was trained in the Army Air Corps as a Radio Operator Mechanic Gunner.

Mr. Dubois was a taxi driver for more than 50 years, retiring at age 83 to care for his beloved wife Gladys. Through the years, he enjoyed dancing, bowling and tennis, and loved the time he spent with his extended family, whom he loved dearly.

Funeral services will be held privately for family members. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Adult Day Care at St. Francis Home, 39 Thorne St, Worcester, MA 01604. Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
