Westborough – Corridor Nine Chamber and the Doubletree Hotel surpassed our goal of gathering over 9,000 food items for the five Corridor Nine Food Pantries!

The final count came in and with the help of dozens of volunteer chamber members, area residents and students, we have collected 9,051 items that will be delivered next week to the Westborough, Northborough, Southborough,Shrewsbury, and Grafton food pantries. This food campaign was launched two months ago by Corridor Nine, HYPE9, Doubletree Hotel, Westborough Community Education Department's SPIRIT program, and many of our local schools.

The local supermarkets helped by allowing us to collect at their stores in November and then we had a 1,200 item donation from Meininger Chiropractic who developed a food drive contest with his patients. We had a generous $500 store gift certificate from Wegmans and as you can see from this photo, we enjoyed filling six shopping carts with food on the last day of the campaign! Henry Tessman of the Doubletree Hotel has organized the pick ups and storage of all the items and Mark Silverman of Mark's Moving and Storage has donated hundreds of boxes to use for the collection and delivery.

As we observe each and every year, the people of this region have once again demonstrated the true spirit of generosity during the holiday season.
