Fitchburg – Augusto Cardoso, 72, former longtime resident of Hudson, died at his residence in Fitchburg Saturday, March 31, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rosa (Lino) Cardoso of Fitchburg, formerly of Hudson.
Born in Guarda, Lisbon in Portugal, he left Portugal in 1968 and resided in Hudson until moving to Fitchburg in 2006.
Mr. Cardoso was employed as an assembler for General Motors in Framingham for many years until its closing.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and looked forward to his frequent trips to Old Orchard, Maine. He was a longtime member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Lucy Rodriguez and her husband David and Elizabeth Thorpe, all of Hudson; his son, David Cardoso of Hudson; his brother, Aleepio Cardoso of Portugal; his five grandchildren, Chelsea Thorpe, Ryan MacDonald, Devin and Chloe Cardoso, and Darien Melvin; and his many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 4, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery. Family and friends may attend calling hours Tuesday, April 3, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.
