The C.A. six tips of the day for April 18

Region –Today is Wednesday, April 18, the 109^th day of 2012. 

On this day in 1906, the “Big One” struck – the Great San Francisco Earthquake. The quake, which registered almost 8.0 on the Richter Scale, killed nearly 3,000 people and destroyed 30,000 buildings, including many homes and businesses.

Later this month Prince William and Kate Middleton will be celebrating their first year wedding anniversary but on this day in 1956 there was another wedding that captured the world’s attention – that of American actress Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco.

Today’s birthdays include actress America Ferrera (1984), reality TV star, Kourtney Kardashian (1979), and “Late Night” host Conan O’Brien (1963).
