Alice Kathleen Collette

Shrewsbury - Alice Kathleen (Cotter) Collette, formerly of Mesa, Ariz., and Manchester, Conn., passed away peacefully Thursday, April 19, 2012. She was the wife of the late Myron G. Collette, who passed away in 2002.

She leaves two daughters, Denise Weikamp and her husband, Jim, of East Hampton, Conn., and Kathleen Brownell and her husband Bob of Shrewsbury; seven grandchildren, Kate Vernali and husband Sal, Alison D’Arcy and husband Eric, Michael Wisnieski and fiancé Patience, Emily Ortiz and husband DJ, Michael Weikamp, Dan Brownell and wife Carla, and Erin Brownell; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters.

Born in Orono, Maine, she was the daughter of the late John and Lillian (Bradley) Cotter. After living in Maine, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, Mrs. Collette and her husband retired to Mesa, Ariz. in 1973. She moved to Shrewsbury in 2003.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, playing and listening to music, and painting. She loved a good conversation and a good laugh.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and UMass Memorial Hospice for their compassionate care.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 19, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main St. Shrewsbury. Private burial will be in Mary Queen of The Rosary Cemetery in Spencer. The Britton Shrewsbury Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
