Rita F. Power, 90

Westborough – Rita F. Power, 90, formerly of Medford, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the UMass Memorial Healthcare- Memorial Hospital, Worcester. She was the wife of the late Joseph E. Power.

Born in Newton, she was the daughter of the late Alcide and Florestine (Marchand) Vachon and was educated in Newton schools.

Prior to raising her children, she was employed as the credit manager at Cochran’s Department Store in Cambridge and then as the office manager for Dr. Konefal. In later years she was the secretary to the Vice President of Finance at Tufts University, retiring at the age of 72.

Mrs. Power was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Westborough and a former member of St. Joseph’s Church and St. Raphael’s Church both in Medford. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards, shopping, cooking and reading.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph C. Power and his wife, Cheryl, of Mansfield and Robert A. Power and his wife, Ann, of Westborough. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Joseph, Mark, Christopher, Elizabeth, Thomas and Michael Power. She was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 28, at 10 a.m., in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial in Mt. Auburn Cemetery of Cambridge will be held privately Monday, April 30. Calling hours are Friday, April 27, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St.
