Hudson – Dorothy M. Balben, 86, a longtime resident of Hudson, died Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center in Westborough.

Born in Somerville, daughter of the late Harold and Annie (Harris) Balben, she was raised in Waltham and was employed as a key punch operator by the Raytheon Co. in Wayland for many years until her retirement.

She enjoyed traveling and needlepoint in her spare time, and especially loved the times she shared with her nieces and nephews. She was always a loving and caring aunt to all of them.

She is survived by her two brothers, Richard Balben of New Hampshire and Frank Balben of Massachusetts; her sister, Marie Brown of Texas; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Walter, George, Warren, Malcolm, William, Chester, and Jack Balben.

Family and friends attended a calling hour April 30, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, followed by a funeral service and burial at Forestvale Cemetery of Hudson.
