Marlborough digs deep, but falls short

 Marlborough – Marlborough High School’s (MHS) Jon VanLingen gets ready to return a serve during a game against Wachusett Regional High School (WRHS). MHS hosted Wachusett for a boys volleyball match May 9 in Marlborough. WRHS won the first game 25-23, but MHS came back strong in the second game and won 27-25. In the third, the Wachusett players regained their composure and won handily 25-14, but in the fourth game, it was Marlborough’s turn to excel and they won 25-17. The fifth and deciding game was close, but ultimately WRHS won 15-12 and took the match.
