Worcester man arrested at Westborough T station for breaking into van

Westborough – Police Chief Alan Gordon released this statement this morning:

On 6/7/12, at approximately 4:52 PM, the Westborough Police Department received a call reporting a male subject breaking into motor vehicles at the MBTA station parking lot on Smith Parkway. The arriving units located a male subject fitting the description sitting on a bench. Officer Dean Paine located a GPS inside a plastic bag the suspect had beside him. He also had numerous tools and a claw hammer tucked in his belt. A Toyota van was located in the parking lot with its side window smashed. The suspect admitted that he broke the window and stole the GPS. He stated he needed to buy diapers for his girlfriend who thinks she’s pregnant.

The suspect was identified as Brian R. Ford, age 43 of 17 Chandler St. Worcester. He was arrested and charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle during the daytime, malicious destruction of property, larceny under $250, possession of burglarious tools and a warrant from Central District Court in Worcester for failure to appear. Ford is being held at the police station for his appearance in WDC today.

Arresting Officers were Off. Dean Paine and Off. Laura Grasso.
