Anna Catino, 98

Millbury – Anna (Gioia) Catino, 98, of Millbury, formerly of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June12, 2012, surrounded by her loving family, in Memorial Hospital. Anna’s husband of 60 years, Alfonso Catino, passed away in 1985.

She is survived by two sons, Maurice Catino of Sutton and Joseph Catino and his wife, Rosalie, of Rutland; a daughter, Jeanne Romano of Holden; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Gioia, and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Catino.

Anna was born in New York City, New York, a daughter of the late Joseph and Cosima Gioia. She later moved to Shrewsbury, where she resided for many years before moving to Millbury.

She worked as a stitcher for Hawthorne’s Sportswear for many years before retiring in 1979. She loved baking, sewing and knitting.

Services for Anna will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution can be made to a charity of your choice.
