Westborough – The GO (Girls Outdoors) Girl Scout group of the Westborough Girl Scouts recently hiked the Appalachian Trail in Massachusetts. In honor of the 100th birthday of Girl Scouts, all Scouts are invited to hike the trail in bits and pieces during the year. By the end of the year the whole trail will be hiked. The girls and adults did several prep hikes and camp set ups to prepare for the weekend.

Girl Scouts all over the East Coast have picked a portion of the Appalachian Trail to hike, resulting in over 2,000 miles of trail hiked in pieces.

Members of the Westborough Go Girls group are Hannah Schur, Jillian Smith, Megan O’Keefe, Audrey Lord, and Sophie Scerbin. Adults who accompanied them on their journey were Dan Schur, Mike Smith, Christine O’Keefe, Michelle Scerbin, and Jerry and Marilyn Lyle. The group was lead by the Westborough Girl Scout Outdoor Consultant Paul Casello. Most of the girls also belong to troops during the year.
