What are some of your earliest softball memories?

“My earliest memories are from the instructional days, when our coaches were the pitchers and girls would run around the field aimlessly until they found the bases.”

What other sports do you play and which is your favorite?

“I play softball, field hockey and ice hockey. I enjoy all of the sports equally, just in different ways.”

What has your individual success this season meant to you?

“My success this past season has meant absolutely everything to me, but it’s truly not ‘my’ success; it’s ‘our’ success – my team’s success. Whether it’s a game, practice, or an off-day, we are together every day, working as hard as we possibly can to make this season memorable.”

Who has encouraged you the most to succeed?

“My family, friends, coaches and teammates all encourage me to succeed, but the people who drive me the most are actually the people who don’t believe in me. The people who didn’t think we were a good enough team to make playoffs. The people who don’t view us as a threat. Those are the people that push me to play my hardest every game. I love being able to defy the odds.”

Which memory from your high school career is the most special?

“Making playoffs this year will forever stand out to me. It stands out because together as a team, as a family, we worked together and reached one of the goals we had set for ourselves. We haven’t made it to Districts in a few years, and it was about time! It was so surreal I couldn’t help but cry.”

What are your college plans? Do you want to play softball at that level?

“I will be attending East Carolina University this fall. Their softball team is Division 1, but I’m going to contact the coach anyway and ask for an opportunity to try out. I’d rather fail trying than never have tried at all. I’ll most likely play club field hockey and club softball.”

What is your favorite class in school?

“My favorite class in school is biology. I’ll be furthering my studies at ECU by majoring in biology.”

What do you want your legacy at Marlborough High to be after you graduate?

“I want to be remembered as a leader. I was heavily involved within my school. I was my class treasurer for five years; I was captain of both the varsity field hockey and softball teams. I hope I was able to make an impact on different people’s lives.”
