Ramping up…

After years in the works, a plan to remove a significant amount of commercial traffic from Westborough’s roads is one step closer to reality thanks to an amendment sponsored by state Reps. Carolyn Dykema, D-Holliston, George Peterson Jr., R-Grafton, and Matthew Beaton, R-Shrewsbury. The amendment to the state’s transportation bond bill would provide funds to study the request by local waste disposal company E.L. Harvey & Sons to utilize Mass Turnpike ramps near their Westborough and Hopkinton facilities. Although there are still several hurdles to clear, the plan could help ease downtown congestion as well as wear and tear on local roadways.
