Westborough alum receives UMass-Amherst award

Westborough – Anisha Patel, the daughter of Siddharth and Nihita Patel of Westborough, is one of only 10 recipients of the prestigious Honors Dean’s Award from Commonwealth Honors College at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. This top honor is presented by the dean to seniors who have demonstrated excellence in yearlong research that culminates in a thesis or project.

Anisha’s thesis analyzed the effects of physical activity and of estrogen supplementation during menopause on female cardiac muscle function.

In May, Patel graduated magna cum laude with a degree in kinesiology and earned Commonwealth Honors College honors with great distinction. She graduated from Westborough High School in 2008.

Commonwealth Honors College provides an intellectually challenging undergraduate curriculum for academically talented UMass-Amherst students from all backgrounds. This community of scholars prepares students for responsible engagement and future leadership in society.
