Vigeant honors Severin for work with MEDC

Marlborough – Mayor Arthur Vigeant recently awarded Canaan Severin, a Marlborough resident and recent graduate of Worcester Academy,? with a Certification of Recognition after he completed an internship with the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). ?Severin's work with the MEDC was done as part of his school's community service requirement.

Severin spent two weeks earning school credit by helping the MEDC on a full-time basis in late May, according to a press release from the mayor's office.? His work included putting together informational sheets that highlight the benefits of living and working in Marlborough as well as the city's latest statistics.

The MEDC staff was very impressed with Severin who served as an admissions ambassador for his school and as president of its 2012 Varsity Club, Vigeant said.

“Canaan is an impressive young man with a bright future ahead of him,” said Vigeant. “He really got the most out of his internship and I's confident that this experience will serve him well at school.”

 

Severin will attending the University of Virginia later this summer, where he plans to major in economics and minor in communications. He was recruited by the school to be a wide receiver in its Division 1 NCAA football program.
