Young Eagles flight rally Aug. 11 in Stow

Stow – All those between ages 8 to 17 will have a chance to take to the skies Saturday, Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., as EAA Chapter 196 hosts a Young Eagles flight rally at Minute Man Airfield, 302 Boxboro Rd., Stow.

Registration takes place next to Nancy’s Airfield Café, where you can enjoy a nice breakfast or lunch before or after the airplane ride. Pilots at the event will also explain more about their airplanes, allowing young people to discover how airplanes work and how pilots ensure safety is the prime concern before every flight.

The rally is part of the EAA Young Eagles Program, created to interest young people in aviation. Since the program started in 1992, volunteer EAA pilots have flown more than 1.7 million young people in more than 90 countries.

EAA Chapter 196 also offers scholarships to young people for flying lessons and to attend EAA summer camp events in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
