Westborough’s ‘Arts in Common’ almost full

Westborough – Arts in Common (AIC) has room for a few volunteers, performers, and artists. The fourth annual celebration of this very popular fall festival, sponsored by the Westborough Cultural Council, returns to Bay State Commons Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For any individual or group who performs in some way – singing, dancing, playing an instrument, and/or acting – Arts in Common provides a venue to show off talents to several thousand people.  Two stages will showcase local performers in 30-minute segments all day long. To perform, contact Jeff Kimball at jeff@jeffandvivian.com.

For artisans who create original items or art in metals, ceramics, woods, paper, fiber, glass, or any other media, Arts in Common provides a marketplace in which to display and sell wares. Crafters return year after year, and are “usually smiling broadly as they break down their display at day’s end.” To participate, contact Brett Poza at 617-899-6102 or artsincommon@yahoo.com.

To join the fun, Arts in Common has various opportunities for volunteers, whether available for an hour or the whole day.  Contact Kay Hurley at 508-366-9712 or hurleykay@gmail.com to find out more.

To be involved without wearing a yellow AIC T-shirt, the organizers are still actively soliciting donations to AIC’s silent auction. To make a credited donation, download a silent auction donation form from AIC’s website at westboroughculturalcouncil.org. To place an ad in the program booklet, download that form from that website

Those who do not perform, create, volunteer, or donate, can plan on joining the fun for the 2012 edition of Arts in Common. Admission is free, and there will be food vendors and a variety of free children’s activities.

Application forms and further information can be found on the Westborough Cultural Council’s website – westboroughculturalcouncil.org – or contact AIC Chair Lynn Watts at 508-366-5034 or LSWatts@verizon.net.
