Deolinda C. Chaves, 78

Hudson – Deolinda C. Chaves, 78, of Hudson, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012 at Kindred Transitional Care in Marlborough. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Chaves, who died in 2000.

Deolinda was born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores, Portugal, the daughter of the late Jose and Maria (Batista) Chaves. She had resided in Hudson the past 40-plus years, and worked for the Hudson Lock Co. for many years until her retirement. She was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson.

She is survived by her three children, Victor Chaves, Jose Chaves and his wife, Isabelle, and Aida Chaves, all of Hudson. She is also survived by her two sisters, Helena Cordeiro of Hudson and Margaret Lima of Canada; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 17, at 9:00 a.m., in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery of Hudson. Calling hours will be held Thursday, Aug. 16, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.
