New town administer to wear many ‘hats’

Southborough – Along with being the new town administrator, Mark Purple has a new job description, with expanded responsibilities. Taking over after Jean Kitchen’s departure, Purple will handle a longer list of duties, including helping departments plan budgets, negotiating contracts, working with the School Committee, and developing a new trash disposal system.

Town officials had been seeking a strong administrator who could handle more responsibilities so town meetings wouldn’t be bogged down with so much “day-to-day” business, and to allow selectmen to focus on other matters.
